
How to Make a Script
Step 1 - Open the Script Toolbar If it is not already open go to the View>Toolbars>Script
This is what the scripts will look like if you have the Scripts palette open. Use the drop down arrow to choose a script.
Step 2 - Decide what you want to record. Scripts are simply a recording of a function or a group of functions that you will do in PSP. You can choose a pre-recorded script to perform a set of steps on several images.
Tip 1: Sometimes it helps if you practice the steps on several different images to make sure it works on all colors.
Tip 2: Keep a pencil and scratch paper handy to write down the settings you used in case you forget what the settings were while you are recording.
Step 2 - Press the record button.
Start Script Recording
Pressing the Start Script Recording will start the recording all of the steps that you make in PSP 8.
Tip 3 : Use the Layer Properties Palette to adjust Layer Opacity rather than the standard slider to get a cleaner script.
Step 3 - Save the script Save Script Recording
Once you have pressed the Start Script Recording button the Stop Script icon changes to a Save Script Recording icon. Pressing this will bring up the Save dialog box.
Step 4 - Give your script a name

Once you have the save dialog open you can click the Description... button to add information about your script before you save it. This is helpful when a script may require special steps such as create Vector text first or choose the Foreground and Background colors before running the script. Make sure to give each script a unique name so that you don't accidentally overwrite an important script.

The save Material checkbox saves the name and location of any Gradients or Patterns you may have used in your script. make sure that if you will be sharing your scripts to include any custom Gradients or Patterns with your script. Save Dialog Positions will leave the dialogs, in the case of running an interactive, where you may have dragged them to better view the image.
Description
The Description dialog box allows you to add your name and copyright as well as any important information about the script.
Run Selected Script
You can run the saved script at any time by clicking the Run Selected Script after choosing it from the drop down list Script dialog on the Script Palette.
Edit Selected Script This is the Edit Script icon click on it to edit a selected script.
Interactive Script Playback Toggle Clicking the Interactive Playback Toggle allows you to watch and click as a script unfolds or choose to allow the script to run silently. By default the scripts run silently unless the writer edits the script to allow for interaction. Pause Script Recording Click Pause Script Recording to temporarily stop the recording process. Click it a second time to resume. Cancel Script Recording Click the Cancel Script recording to stop recording the script without saving it. For more on editing scripts click here
